11-10-2006 art everyday

I think I might be into a rut on these pourable things! While looking through some of my old sketches (trying to get inspiration) I came across this drawing I did several years ago. I scanned it but since it's done in just pen using the stipple method it doesn't show up very clearly. But I'm adding it here anyway....

I liked the broken bottle/gourd and decided to do it again with watercolors and pen. I left out the ribbon because I wasn't confident that I could actually make that happen in watercolor!!

So here is my art for today. I'm calling it "Break Through"....

  1. At last! Thought I'd never get on here again to comment! Is it any better on Beta Blogger?
I like the watercolour, lovely autumnal colours. The US postcards are interesting, I'll bet the Elms Hotel was wonderful in its heyday, think I could have coped with staying there:) And as for the fabulous 20s looking purple hat - it's just stunning.

  6. I love them both! I think your choice of colors is great! I love the starkness and flowing quality of the ribbon and other 'thing' in the pen drawing. They are so different that you may be changing more than you think you are. I wish I could draw as well as you do. Mine are amateuish and stiff by comparison.

  7. I like how you did the watercolour. I recently bought a watercolor set & I can't wait for a rainy day to pull it out and experiment:)
