I received my first surprise of the season from Vallen a few days ago....she sent me a cd filled with Christmas music. Some of my all-time favorites were included plus a couple that I wasn't familiar with so I've had fun listening to lots of music lately. This is the cover she made....

Aren't these Santas great!! Thank you Vallen!
And speaking of gifts, I'm taking an idea from Sheila and Gillian and getting all my blogger friends a gift that will keep on giving. As I stated when I began my Love Reaches Out blog, many of us receive so many gifts and we have soooo much and especially at this time of year the extravagence seems almost absurd. So I went shopping here and this is what I got for you.
First some food....enough seeds to provide food for 15 people for one year....

some high-efficiency stoves for Darfur refugees....

and (you know me!!) books!!....for children in Nepal.

I'll be feeding minds as well as tummies so that makes me happy. I hope you like the gifts I chose for all of you and I also hope you understand why I did this. I also encourage all of you to do the same. It's such a great feeling to know I'm giving to someone who really needs it, and that my gift will make a difference in their lives. Isn't that the true spirit of Christmas? Merry Christmas to all my blogger friends!!
I just LOVE holiday music!! And, yes, I LOVE your decision for gift giving, how wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAs one of your Love Reaches Out group I truly appreciate the gift you gave...Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnother GREAT idea, and yes that is what Christmas should be about, Giving! If we will open our hearts we will always be able to find someone less fortunate than ourselves. Thank you for the gift.
ReplyDeleteBE BLESSED:-)
Hi Janet, thanks for stopping by. What a wonderful gift your giving! We are very fortunate for the life we live. You have a good heart. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you.
ReplyDeleteJanet, Once again you have shown what a special lady you are. This is the gift of love.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful gift!
Your, Mary
What wonderful gifts you have given! Thankyou!!!
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool. I've added the site to my favs and plan on using it. I also like the free trade gifts and I chose almost the same ones you did for giving. This site was originally sent to me by a friend who lives here in town and I've been using it, but didn't think to pass it on with my blog. You guys, (Janet, Sheila and Gill) have inspired me to send it out more into the world.
Thank you so much!!! I love that gift! Love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteJanet that is the best.
Enjoy your holiday CD...I hope there is some Frank Sinatra on there.

ReplyDeleteYep, I saw the snow on the mountains that surround us. Our house is a little lower in elevation so we didn't get snow but oh boy, it's cold!
Janet, thank you so much. This is wonderful. We hoped others would be inspired to do something like this..!
ReplyDeleteIt feels so good to know that 'our' gift from you, will help so many, and not for just December 25th.
Big hugs

I missed this post altogether! I'm glad you mentioned it in your comment over at my blog!
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas for giving. I'm getting more into the idea of making donations as gifts. It's a way to give back for sure. I bought a book at Barnes and Noble yesterday and donated it to their Christmas book giving program. An 11 year old girl will be getting Anne of Green Gables for Christmas! :)
