I left home about 6 AM the morning of the 10th and drove as far as Redding, CA where I stopped for the night. It was about 2:30 PM when I stopped and I had not pushed myself too much. I stopped along the way several times just to get out and walk around the rest areas.
Then back on the road again bright and early the next morning. I actually got to the hotel ahead of Pirk who flew in from Toronto. Even though we had never met before, we knew each other immediately. I don't think we stopped talking from the moment we met until we had to leave! She is such a fun person and so easy to be around. We shared a room and had "slumber parties" each night, staying up late to talk and laugh.
Here is a photo of the two of us....

For some reason my "boob" seems to be glowing!! I don't know why it looks like that because in person it didn't but anyway here we are laughing and having fun. I think this was on Friday night. The tee shirt Pirk is wearing is funny. It reads "Yarned and Dangerous"....and she is most definitely yarned! She has lots and lots of yarn in her stash. The vest she has on is all freeform crochet and it is gorgeous. Dummy me didn't get a photo of it!
Here are a couple of photos of the market at the Knit and Crochet Show....

Just look at all those luscious colors!!

Piles and piles of yarn. I actually bought some of this yarn! It's Merino Superwash Wool from Newton's Yarns.

Isn't that a great color?? I thought it would look good with jeans. I'll probably knit a scarf since that's about all I can knit!
I met so many wonderful people on this trip, and I'll tell you about some of them in another post. For now, I'm trying to get back into my "normal" routine and also catch up on the 350+ posts I've missed on all your blogs while I was away!! You'll see me around Blogland and I'll try to catch up on my emails in the next few days.
For now it's good to be home but I miss Pirk and all the other fun people I met. I will try to make a Portland folder on my flickr page so you can check over there later today.
OH Janet,,you looked like you had fun, glowing boob and all! I know you had a blast and enjoyed being with a friend and seeing all that wonderrous colors of wool! I have only been in Portland 30 min. when my plane laid over there before I went on to Spokane. I have heard its so pretty! Glad you had a safe trip!

Hi Janet and welcome back. What a great time you had and the weather must have been luscious. Looks like you had some light bouncing off that high spot. LOL After visiting some sites I thought, "hey, I've done some of this." Not nearly so accomplished, but yeah, small, pretty, and totally freeform inspired. Fun!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to meet up with our blogger mates and I know how you feel because I had the same feeling when I met up with Dot.

So glad you got to "get away"and meet a new friend, have some fun and made it home safe....my Aunt Helen lived in Portland for years and loved it there.

ReplyDeleteOh i am so glad you had a great time, you looked like you had a blast. Isnt it nice to get away and have fun with your friends. I have knitted but nothing ever turned out, so that was another craft I was not good at. She looks like fun and her vest is amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh Janet - I am SO glad you had such a lovely time with Pirk! I loved this post. And I know you have enjoyed meeting a kindred spirit.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud at your comment about your glowing boob (you are funny). I always knew your spirit ' glowed' but didn't know that your boob glowed more than any other part of your body he hee..
Seriously though - it warms my heart to know you had a great time. Look forward to reading more about your trip.
Much love
Dot xx
P.S When I met our blogging friend Doreen we could not stop talking either. Isn't it lovely when that happens? Pirk looks like a lovely and lively woman!
P. S Beautiful color choice for the wool too.
ReplyDeleteI've got to come back and read this more carefully, because I'm salivating right now!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! That is a perfect blue jean blue!!! I can't wait to see what you do with it. Sounds like a wonderful trip. Wish I were on the West coast!
ReplyDeleteNow, that's weird, 'cos I was sure I left a comment on this post just the other day but now it's gone. Maybe I dreamed it. lol
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I had a laugh at your comment about the glowing boob too. It looks like you had a fabulous time with Pirk. She seems like a lot of fun to be around.
Oh, and the wool colour would be perfect for jeans ~ :)
