Joining In....

You may have noticed some new buttons on the sidebar. I've joined a couple of groups for this coming year. The first one is Creative Every Day 2009....this will be my third year of doing this and I'm hoping that this will be the year when I actually accomplish doing something creative every single day. But if I don't I still won't give up.

The other thing I joined is a book club where we will be reading "12 Secrets of Highly Creative People"....HB gave me the book for Christmas so I think that's a good sign that I should join this group. I've already started reading it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. If you'd like to have more information about this group you can find it here.

I also have been doing some thinking about what I want to do in this coming year. I visited Serena's blog and she inspired me to choose a word that will exemplify my goals for the year. I went to the list and one word just jumped out at me....that word was "growth"....so I'm going to concentrate on growing this year. Growing in my art as well as growing in my thinking.

So I've got some plans for 2009 and I'm looking forward to discovering lots of new things....I never want to stop learning and doing.

  1. Those are some great goals. And what a great word to pick for 2009! My word for 2008 was NEW but I haven't decided on one for the coming year yet.

    *hugs*

PS Just thought I'd tell you that the Word Verification for this comment is "cargiver"! Too funny!

  2. Good for you Janet! I don't want to stop living or growing either! I had a year when I picked a word, and I think I'll work on my word for last year which was murmuring as in Not Murmuring! I need to do a bit better with that one. An easy way to remember it is to not complain! Sigh!

  3. Looks like you have great resolutions (or goals) -- sometimes the "R" word is too much for me!

Have a gorgeous New Year -- I'm anxious to look through your earlier posts -- hope your holiday was happy!

  7. With those resolutions Janet you should have a great 2009.
I think a good word for me would be NO---if I said no to a few more people then I could do more of the me stuff.

  8. You're so ready! I'm still contemplating....but I like the idea of a single word to create the "tone" of everything I do. I'll go check that out. I hope your book group goes well. Last year I was with a group that worked the 12 week program in The Artist's Way and I really enjoyed it. I'll pass on that this year, but I am looking for something to focus on that will be beneficial for more than just the short term. Have only been enjoying your blog for a short time, but I really like it.

  14. Is that book the same or similar, that we looked at Portland, in that huge bookstore? Don't shoot me, but I can't remember the name of the store.

  19. 'Growth' - what wonderful word for the New Year! I picked a word at random from Christine Kane's blog last year (put them all in a jar), and was surprised at how often that word turned up, even when I wasn't thinking about it - 'beauty' showed up around me - in flowers, birds, butterflies - everywhere -- just waiting for me to notice it...
Wishing you a wonderful, happy and healthy New Year, Janet! ((hugs))
