Sunday Creative Update....

Since Sunday is the day I decided to use to update you on my past week's creativity (Creative Every Day) I guess I better do that!

First of all, I'm totally overwhelmed by the response to my giveaway! I've been trying to visit all the blogs that are entered in the One World One Heart giveaway but I'm sure I've missed some of them. And I've also tried to send emails to all the ones who entered mine (if they have an email listed.) It's almost a full-time job!! I can't imagine how Lisa is coping with this event! So for the next few days I might not have anything too interesting on my blog.

I'm also doing a fairly good job of keeping up with a daily drawing in my moleskine. I posted a couple of new things over on my art blog and on my flickr page. And I've been working in one of my art journals, too. The bad thing about working in my art journals is that mostly I keep those personal and I don't like sharing them on my blogs! So I have been doing some art but not much to show you.

I did have a bit of a break-through last night while reading "12 Habits of Highly Creative Women"....I haven't posted much about that but I have been reading along with everyone in the group. My break-through came in an idea for my studio. If you've read my blog for any length of time you know how I struggle with organizing that room! I realized that much of the stuff I'm holding on to is never going to be used by me! And some of the other stuff I don't think is even any good any longer.

So there's going to be a major....and I do mean MAJOR....clearing out of stuff. I'm one of those people who hangs on to scraps of paper because I might use it one day. Well, you all know that day seldom ever comes! If I find anything that I think others might want there may be more giveaways in the near future. I can't say for sure but if I come across something really good that I know I'm NOT going to use then it will go to someone.

With that, I'll leave you with an unfinished drawing I've been working on since last night....

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. Hopefully I can finish it today or tonight and show the finished result tomorrow. All in all, I think I've stayed creative throughout the week....and I've baked lots of cookies, too.

  3. Very very pretty Janet! I'm the same way, hang onto the smallest of scraps so sure I'll need it one day. I will join you on your decluttering mode and let me know any tips you might have to help me out here!

  4. Your new work-in-progress is so pretty! Can't wait to see what it becomes.

I wish I could come over and help you get organized... I love orgainzing and I'm really good at tossing things out! For me it's very freeing as I can tend to collect of lot of things that I don't need or will never use either.

LOST! Wasn't last week's episode great? I can't wait to see how everything unfolds.

    Have a great weekend.

Its such a pretty border of flowers. I am now considering baking to be highly creative too! The whole process is similar to making art!

thank you for the lovely input on my blog too Janet.

  6. I love the flowers. It will be fun to see where they go! Did you leave any cookies for us? Recipes? About cleaning out the studio, I think it is a disease was all have ... I'll use that tiny piece of paper someday! Good luck!

  7. Love your unfinished work.

If you have craft room "leftovers" try giving them to nursing homes for their activity room. Or give them to preschools. Goodwill takes that sort of thing. Also many communities have S.C.R.A.P. centers. We have one here in Marshall, Michigan.

    Enjoy your week Janet.

  8. Wonderful drawing!
I've been cleaning my art/cut and paste boxes today while I did some collages.
It feels good to get a handle on some of the accumulated images and recycled wanna-be art!
    Good luck with your studio!
[I do think going thru and organizing is an ongoing creative project in itself!]

  10. Janet my dear girl, I am doing the clutter clean out, this is my 3rd day...it is not easy, I always think I will use these things later...but I am just throwing stuff away like a crazy person. I live in a small house by most standards and I have let my crafting get the upper hand. i need picture boxes so that I can label them....
Thank you for coming by, also for your comment on the Ruth Journal...I will be adding often.
    Your, Mary

  12. Janet,

Thanks for visiting and commenting on the Lunar New Year (4707) post. This OX plans on celebrating all year -- even if my birthday is still 5 months away!

  13. I'm slinking back in. I'm not going to try to comment on each post, but I've read back through January 1, and tomorrow I'll catch up on December.
I LOVE your CED drawings, and it's a great idea. Of course, I'd have to just leave out January but I think I'll adopt that motto. (MY goal word for this year is "FINISH" - I have so many unfinished projects it's ridiculous). And like you, I hang onto everything. Not paper scraps so much, unless it's a nice pretty paper. But I do have cross stitch patterns I will NEVER use again (and I loved your little needlework pouches - so pretty!). I hope things work out with your daughter so she can find some peace, and you can find peace with her decision.

  14. The drawing's looking pretty, Janet - I like the vine-y look.
I am so overwhelmed with everything, I don't know how I'll ever visit everyone on the OWOH...
This is the first chance I've really had to even see how everyone's doing - and I don't want to lose track of the blog friends I've already made...so I guess I'll just have to try to visit a little at a time.
I keep every scrap too - I really need to weed through everything too. Maybe I'll find the room underneath it all, once everything settles down a little. Meanwhile, I'll be following your project for inspiration!

Your drawings are brilliant, as usual.

  16. Hi Janet, thanks for calling in to my blog after I entered your owoh giveaway. I have come back to take another look at your blog and I like what I see. I think your drawing is super. You know what I'm going to follow you. I'm very pleased to have met you. Kind regards

  18. Your drawing is so pretty, Janet!

I've been thinking the same way about my huge supply of MDF/wood items which include plaques of all shapes and sizes, sleighs, santa cutouts, cow cutouts, etc. I haven't painted a wood piece for years....ever since I turned to painting on canvas, in fact. I keep saying that I'm going to set myself a task of painting one wooden piece a month until I make a dent in the huge pile....still haven't started that task yet. lol

I like that you choose one day a week to discuss your creative explorations of the week. I've been a bit haphazard with mine....I've been painting but have been posting all over the place....it's so like me. lol

  19. You are the second blog I've followed lately who has been doing major purging, even of art things. I so admire that and (sort of) want to do that -- and just can't bear it. I'm quite impressed by that.
