The Colors of My Rainbow....

It's February and I'm not sure what happened to January! I haven't got anything creative to show you....I did more "private" work in my art journals over the weekend. I have to admit I'm getting bogged down by the OWOH giveaway. I have let other things slide by due to the time it's taking. I've been keeping up with my reading of "12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women" but I haven't done any posts about it or done much of the "homework" involved. And I have been doing fairly good with staying creative every day but a lot of it has involved that private art journal. The other place where I've been creative is in the kitchen! Those of you who know me will be surprised by that statement!! I don't enjoy cooking and usually say I'm allergic to kitchens! But with two guys in the house I've been stepping up to the plate (how'd you like that little pun!) and cooking more. And of course the baking has continued....but I like to bake.

I'm not sure I've mentioned it but HB is home. The looooong hours at work have ended and he is laid off now. The project is not going to make its deadline so they're cutting way back and that meant a lot of lay offs. So HB is home doing some little chores that got put off while he was working those crazy hours.

While trying to get caught up on blog reading I came across this little quiz thingie....and you know how I love these things! I saw it on freebird's blog and it looked like fun since it's about colors. So here it is:

Your rainbow is intensely shaded yellow, violet, and red.

What is says about you: You are a creative person. You appreciate optimism. You're good at getting people to like you. You get bored easily and want friends who will keep up with you.

Find the colors of your rainbow at

I think this sounds a bit like me....and at least there's a mention of violet!

NOTE - I'm not sure why the rainbow colors aren't showing!! I copied it completely and it showed up at first but now is gone!! Computer gremlins strike again!!!

  1. That was an interesting one. I came up white & violet.

  2. Love this. I am "tranquil." It fit me to a t! You know how I love these!! xo

  3. That was fun, I came up with Red only.
You ask about the photo's I used in my story...I have found some at the Yester- Year Old book store...they let me use their photo copy. My old postcard collection. Others I have found on the net...I have tryed to find people that kind of look alike, not easy. I searched for a old album at yard sales this summer past, but no luck so I was on my own finding a pretend family.
    It has been fun.
    Big Hugs, Mary

  5. I would love to have a sign that said...This Kitchen is closed until Mary has lost weight...I don't bake much because I will eat it, but Arney has a sweet tooth and I do to and it comes in the form of bought cookies and chocolate candy. I would never buy this stuff for myself. But I will eat it if it's here....Yikes!!!!!

  6. January is that month that is probably the most boring.. well I think so... even though my birthday is in January, once that has is a non event and it cannot go fast enough for me with the heat that we have!!

enjoy being creative in the kitchen. I love cooking and sometimes lose myself in the process of creating !

  7. I got white and green for my rainbow colours - You are a contemplative person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. People depend on you to make them feel secure. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality. I think it's fairly close.

As for kitchen stuff - I don't mind cooking or baking but I hate having to clean up the mess afterwards. lol

  8. I meant to say that it must be nice having HB home.

  9. I love that we all have different ones. I hate those computer gremlins, but they do strike sometimes.

  10. Hello Janet taking time to catch up with friends. Color this time of year brightens up the spirit because Feb. can be bleak and dreary here in my world as well anyone who experiences snow.
Looking forward to reading some of the secrets that motivate you!
You and I both have a similar seem to have lost the interest..but dear H. is picking up the spoons! love and light aNNa xo

  11. Hi! I like the new look of your blog. My hb is laid off too. Hmmm
    that's been going around.

  12. Janet, I love these!!

    My rainbow is colored violet.

What is says about you: You are a creative person. You appreciate beauty and craftsmanship. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it.

  13. Hi Janet! Just stopping in to say hey! I've been under the weather for the past few days and no creating. It is sunny andbrighttoday, so I am headed for a short walk in Vitamin D!

  14. Any rainbow with violet in it has to be pretty!

  15. I had the disappearing rainbow too. I went back and recopied it and it seems to be staying now.

Like you, I like to bake but not cook. Some may wonder about the difference but I much prefer breads, cakes and cookies (even homemade candy) to cooking dinner again!

My son-in-law is now laid off his engineering job due to the project not going to make its deadline also. He was working on some NASA project. He doesn't think it will be hard to find a new job but I am not so sure about that.

How fun Janet!!!Thanks for sharing with us!

  17. I find the kitchen a divine place to be creative. The recipes are merely a guide to expanding the flavor with a spice or herb no one thought about! I hope the layoff is a planned one, and nothing unexpected or too long term. Nice to have some help about the house, though.

I'll have to check out the quiz!

  18. My rainbow is strongly shaded violet. "What it says about you: You are a creative person. You appreciate beauty and craftsmanship. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it."

    Pretty accurate I think.

  19. Oh, I'm allergic to the kitchen too, but I do enjoy baking. Not so much with the coming up with food for every meal thing.
Hopefully HB can get some good rest until things even out.
