Danger!! Paint Fumes Ahead!

My stencil class began yesterday and I think I've been high on paint fumes ever since!! I do wear my respirator but since it was windy yesterday I had to spray paint in the garage and I think the fumes sneaked into the house! Wouldn't you know I'd finally find an art medium I love and it's harmful to my health!!

Our first assignment was to make a portfolio to hold our pages that we'll create. I made mine from a cardboard box I had in the garage. It's about 12x19, and I did each side of the pieces so there will be stencil madness inside and out!!

One side....

The other side....

I'm happy with how they turned out although I want to get more spray paint colors. I worked with black, white, red, yellow, and of course, lavender! I also have an antique gold color that I love but it doesn't show up very good. Maybe if I did it over black it might show better.

And I've been continuing to do art for my layering and texture class, too. Here is my latest painting...."Autumn Afternoon"....it's about 16x20.

I just love trees and for some reason I like them when the leaves are all gone and you can see the structure of them more clearly.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and if you celebrate Easter....Happy Easter!

  2. Wow, Janet. You are busy! Love the colors (stencils -- I looked at spray paint and said "self ... you don't finish and play with what you've got ... NO"!). Love your tree ... I'm working on a journal page with a couple of trees. Nature ... she just calls! Have a great weekend. Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

  3. I better get busy and get my portfolio made. I went to michaels and bought this teacher thing it has 3 sides and I am going to use it as a spraypaint station in the garage and I bought a peice of the same material 3.00 or something for the top. I will send you a photo of it so you can see what I mean.

  8. I am so excited. I've been thinking for some time that I need a portfolio to hold extra prints of my work, and yours is so awesome that I'm inspired to make my own. I don't know why I never thought of it! Your new painting is beautiful, Janet, and you sound exactly like Ava on the subject of bare trees, btw!

    Love,

Thanks so much for the card. You are so thoughtful.
Hope you're using a mask of some kind. Those fumes are hard on the lungs. Be careful.
