Blowin' Away....

I'm sure you're all sick of hearing me complain about the wind but today has been especially bad. It's howling! And it's getting on my nerves something fierce. I tried to get busy in the studio but that didn't work. I tried reading and that didn't work either. I think I'm about ready to kill something!! Someone please tell me where the "off" switch is located!

We had lesson two in Julie's class today and I haven't even picked up my paintbrush. When the wind blows like this I can't concentrate on much of anything. I managed to do a quick piece for my 30 day challenge and I did my journal page and that's all I've accomplished today.

So before I run screaming out into the street, here is my art journal page....

May 21:

"to be alive is to be vulnerable"

And this is what I did for my 30 day art challenge:

You may notice that there's spray paint used here....I had to resort to the garage again. I have so many ideas for stencil art but I don't want to do too much inside. This little bit was bad enough.

Now I'm off to bury my head under a pillow and see if that helps!

PS - I added some photos of my art studio in all its glorious mess....they're over on my flickr page if you want to see them.

  1. You are hilarious. Nice work.

  2. I think that, in spite of the wind, you did a couple of very nice pieces. Tomorrow will be a better day!

  3. Too funny! Hang in there ... it could blow harder!!! ???

  4. I hate the winds but it's good to see it didn't stop you creating altogether. Lovely pages....that purple one is gorgeous!

  5. I suppose I should tell you about my wind here. Today I could not think about art..So today is was also windy. I just sat outside and the wind was blowing and I looked at the trees and all the different colors of greens and the were doing these beautiful dances. The wind was making them dance and it was peaceful..So I hope your wind will be kind to you soon.

  6. I'm in LOVE with both these pages.....I really love the second one. Liz and purple...perfect.

  7. When we visited my brother who lived in the So. of France at the time the Mistrals were blowing but NOT at their height. Evidently the intensity and length of time they blow cause people to go crazy....even murderous!
Hang in there Janet...don't get any fiendish ideas. LOL!
I am so impressed with how you're balancing all these classes and daily art!!

  8. Hmm. Have you tried headphones or ear plugs? Or maybe loud music?

I haven't followed you for long but I believe your work is getting more and more beautiful if that's possible.

    Have a great weekend Janet!

  9. I know what you mean about wind - it can drive me bonkers, too! It's so distracting. I hope the wind settles down soon.

I really, really like the piece with Elizabeth Taylor!

    Have a great weekend!

  10. Ooooh I really don't like the wind either. It's awful and I wear contact lenses... soooo... imagine how fun that is! Hang in there! You could paint a girl flying away with her kite... being swept away by the wind!

  11. You have given us all a giggle...I can see you under the pillow. I am okay with wind, but Arney just can't handle it more than a few hours. So when we get winds for a few days he is restless.
I remember the wind at my Mothers in Phelan, Ca. It was like sand blasting her house. We get farmer dust here.

  12. oh the wind! we have had a good old gusty wind for days now, only the other day i said to swampy how glad i will be when it stops. today it has stopped and its wonderful!

  13. The wind does constantly blow in that area. That is something I will not miss.
