Some Days Are Better Than Others....

Usually by this time of year you hear me complaining about the heat....not this year! We have been having spectacular weather! Well, other than the wind!! It's not been too hot yet and would you believe today it's only in the upper 60's and it's raining. We almost always need rain so this is fantastic.

I spent most of the day in the studio. No errands or anything today so I decided to play. It went much better than a couple of days ago when everything went horribly wrong. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get my June 1st page to do anything....so I just threw on a message and went with it! Remember, those suggestions by Sven that I posted several days ago said to show the good and the bad! Well, here's some bad!

June 1:

I even messed up the message! I was going to darken it a little but after I smeared the lettering I said the heck with it.

June 2:

This one isn't a lot better! I used some crackle medium in the center and leftover paint around the edges.

June 3:

This one I like. It's just a piece of scrapbook paper down the center and then I drew on it. The flowers were all just white blobs (like on the bottom left side) so I added the details and put some scrolly stuff along the edges....quick, easy and not too bad.

How is your day going?

  2. Aloha Janet,
We've had the really nice cool summer weather too. Stormy, but then cool at night, which is great for sleeping in.
Do you think it's something to do with global warming? These tempie shifts?
    Peace, Kai

  6. I honestly can't see the problems with the 'bad' ones. I actually like the June 1 page. As for the weather, it is practically a constant marine layer. Yuck, yuck and more yuck.

  8. Well I Love all of them. But I am like you when I journal, some you love and some you just can't see the good in them. We have had a good summer so far too. It was pretty hot on Mon and Tues, mid
90s but we had some good eveing thunderstorms that cooled us off.
Today is a rainy cool day.

  10. I like all of these, but especially the middle purple one - gorgeous.
Now some tough talking from across the sea: You have been putting your art work down for all the years I have been reading your blog! And the whole time I have liked it, that said, have a look at what you posted all those years ago and see where the journey had brought you - amazing.

  12. I like "it's only a mistake if you don't learn anything" ... the journal page and the quote (too true). Just look at how much you are learning and loving! Too cool!

  13. Time for some more tough talk from your pal in Texas. "You must listen to Sven, he knows all" LOL I LOVE the first two, the ones you think are not so good. They are REAL! I like the pic of the man in the hat, he has a story of mistakes to tell. The other one is rich and so "purple" with a lot of feeling. I've been traveling all week, so have a story or two to tell you!

  14. It just goes to show how individual art is - I like the second one far and away the best probably because you are using colours that I really love - it reminds me of a huge amethyst nestling in a ring of chiffon.

We are having bad winds and storms...Oh MY!
Yes, that is Arney poor knee. I made him let me take a picture. He was really down today. I think he is going through some depression. He was very somber today. I would be the same...
    Love ya, Mary
