I Know Artists Are Supposed to Suffer....

Sometimes I wonder if I actually have a brain! Yesterday I had to return some books to the library so I decided to look for a few art books that might have some images I could use (not to sell!) in an altered book project I'm working on.

This was me heading up to check out with several very large, heavy art books plus other books for reading....

As I was juggling books, bags, and a purse I suddenly felt a pain in my back! Oops! Do ya think I might have been carrying too much again!! This was me for the rest of yesterday and so far today....

You'd think I'd learn! I'm not a kid anymore. Maybe I should get me one of those little hand cart thingies to take with me to the library. The good news is that I found some good images and will be able to work on my project as soon as I can straighten up again!

I did manage to do my journal page today....

Aug 20:

It's not one of my better attempts. I got carried away on the background and then it made it hard to write over the bumps of paint and it doesn't show up very good. Oh, well, you win some and you lose some. Even though it isn't very good I'm still letting you see it.

I also did my morning pages today and wrote some affirmations for The Artist's Way group I'm participating in.

Now I think I'll just have a quiet afternoon on the couch....no lifting required! Except for that big box of bon bons! Enjoy your day and remember to take care of yourself....

I hope your back feels better fast - ice and heat, ice and heat, alternate. Good excuse to soak in a hot tub!

  2. Ouch! So sorry about that. Many years ago, I was happily crossing the street to watch a movie when I sneezed. We went on and watched the movie even though I felt the twinge. When the movie was over, I couldn't get up. Tim (who I was with at the time) had to carry me! I couldn't walk for days. sheesh. You could get a little red wagon like Matilda! (have you seen that awesome movie? If not it would be great while you're recovering.)

Get well soon. Enjoy the excuse to lounge. :)

  10. And take plenty of ibuprofen. Maybe a massage is in order, too. I just had another yesterday and even though it had only been a month, my back was all tight again. Not in the same place as when I hurt it, mind you. Oh no, the pain has moved. I just wonder if my insurance would cover the cost of a jacuzzi for my backyard. It would be for medicinal purposes. Anyway, take care of your back. The wheely-thing may be just what you need.
And by the way, I like your page just fine.

  11. Oh no, the back again, you poor thing. Yet you still manage to get your pages done, you amaze me!Please take care of it, be gentle with yourself...save me a bon bon or two. Oddly enough, I am having a bout of the dizzies too, for the past 3 days and it is the pits. I didn't do much today at all, the room kept spinning. Allergies and sinus. Ugh.

  12. Ouch Janet --you take good care of yourself.
I would offer to come and take care of you but I still have the sniffles and if I passed that on to you and you started sneezing you could do your back more harm than good.
