I was inspired by something I saw in class and I immediately had to paint. I opened my Gut Art book again and chose to work on one of my favorite pages. This is a rough sketch of what I saw....

I hope you can see my sketch. And here's my woman after I painted her....

The photo is a little dark but I think you can see what I did. I love this ethnic, tribal, painted-face look. It sort of incorporates my love of zentangles, and designs, with painting....although I haven't mastered the art of painting details yet! Some of my colors don't show up as bright as I'd like and I can't seem to be as neat with a paintbrush as I am with a pen. But I love her anyway....
Hurray for YOU! There's nothing so wonderful as when you love what you've done!

ReplyDeleteJanet do you ever go back to the beginning of your blog and trace your progress as an artist?
ReplyDeleteYour work always spoke, but your work now is simply amazing! I am entranced by this African woman and the way she emerged from your page.

Janet..you started something! haha. I did a pulled art painting...I love it. I posted it on my blog. YOu are such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSuch magical pictures!
ReplyDeleteHi, Janet -- I'm fascinated by this process -- what a lot of work, but GOOD work, FUN work. Probably doesn't seem like work at all!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually commenting on a couple of posts, since photo-heavy blogs take a long while to load up for me at home. On the one you "fixed" -- yes, I see what you mean by softening the blue. I felt better for me, too, though I don't know I would have thought of it without the comparison. Is this gut journal all work you've done over time and compiling or things you are doing for the book to return to later? It's most intriguing and I enjoy following your journey!
I think art is about the inner you. No one does it the same, it is what you feel. I think this will be a great adventure for you. I can hardly wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs, Mary
