So out come the magazines and books. Out come the scissors and glue. And the outcome is always a HUGE mess in the studio!! Here is my latest little creation. It began life as a Good Earth tea box....

I began by stuffing it with old plastic bags just to give it a little bit of stability. Then I completely covered it with masking tape.

Side 1
I painted it all over but most of it got covered with images....

Side 2
Anything and everything got used....leftover paper from when I punched some flowers....

Side 3
stickers, bits of security envelopes, dates from a calendar....

Side 4
I stamped (which wasn't easy since the box wasn't a hard surface!)....

Top
cut things from old magazines....

Bottom
and used images from a book on opera. I made a teeny tiny dent in some of my scraps but no one would ever know. The collaged box will sit on my desk in the office and remind me to get up and go to the studio!!
What are you doing today? Are you playing?
Hey Janet, thanks for stopping by. I am in the mountains on a very slow dial up. I sould only get partial pictures to load so I will be back tomorrow to check them out better, what I saw was awesome. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI love it Janet, and I love where you going to put it to. I know what you mean by not putting a dent in your papers--I keep accumulating--I forget what I have!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea for using up papers...I'm DROWNING in paper!! Gotta use it up somehow. Now I have a cool project waiting for me. Thanks!

What a great idea Janet! Not only does it use up all those left over pieces of papers, but you also have an excuse to keep drinking all that tea! (yes, I am a total tea caddy!)
ReplyDeleteAm I playing? Not so much as I'd like! But if there's one thing I have in my house, it's tea boxes -- so maybe...
ReplyDeleteLove your idea at what to do with empty tea boxes...You have a very great imagination for sure.
ReplyDeletecollage is so cathartic... first the ripping, tearing, and cutting and then the careful putting things together process. I love it. And I love this box!
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteYou have been doing lots of wonderful art. I am a little burned out from my weekend. But you inspire me with all you've accomplished.
