Ever since Lee and I hosted the collage swap I have been doing 6" x 6" collages. Sometimes I just cover them over with something else if I don't like them, and I've spilled water on at least one of them (!!) as you may remember but a few I've kept. This is one of them....

This is a little darker than it is in real life. The colors are a bit more pastel. I just used paper, a stamp, a stencil, a paper punch and my trusty dip pen and ink to create this one. I named it Happiness because I wrote happy thoughts all around the circles.
And here is my latest little canvas that I've listed in my etsy shop....

A Little Bird Told Me - I thought it looked as if they were talking to each other.

Layers of old book pages, some sheet music, phone book scraps, paint, scrapbook paper, and more of my fake writing went into this piece. I like the bright, happy colors....and I hope you do too. (Do you ever notice how many times I use circles in my art?!! I really have a thing for them!)
Ok, HB and I are off to Joann's and Michael's today. He wants to go for something!!! That's a switch but I'm happy to tag along. I hope you all had a fun 4th and are ready to relax and enjoy the extra holiday today. Be sure to do something creative....

ReplyDeleteLove your birdies!
LOVE your new canvases!!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to find your comment today and that you are on line again. I really like the bird piece and a trip to Joann's or Michael's is always a treat.
ReplyDeleteJenny and family went up north to see Doug's family. Cory and family were busy getting ready for our new addition to the family. Trevor and Terri came here for a few hours but had to go home. Their dogs get upset with fireworks.
We could set on our front porch and see fireworks all around us, like you I have had enough and looking forward to the rest of summer.
I cut Lavender yesterday, it smells so good...and still more to do. Your, Mary
Both are very fun, happy pieces.
ReplyDeleteooo I wish I had extra cash right now because the bird canvas is so me. Agh. I think I say "this is my favorite so far" every week, but let me repeat myself. This is my favorite

ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!!! Those colours look great together. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the birdies talking. I have noticed the circles in your art. I use a lot of circles and curvy shapes as well. I'm pretty sure there's some symbolism behind it.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet...you did a fabulous job on the collage and the canvas with the birdies is cute, colorful and bright. At first, when I read where you were going...I thought you were going to your children's or other relatives for the day...but after another read...I see where you went...ha! Did you buy anything?
ReplyDeleteMary

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Love the circles, the birdies, and the colors of both. I made it to Michaels yesterday, but not JoAnn's. I may go there today. Tell us what you bought!
ReplyDeleteVery fond of your birds. VERY. I have trouble with birds -- I keep trying though, and one day will turn out a sort of cute, happy, colorful abstract bird!
ReplyDeleteThe circles are a wonderful motif. Like them very much!
