Last month I didn't finish my piece for the crusade so this month I decided not to wait until the last minute. I got busy today and began with....

A 12" x 12" piece of red rosin paper. I did some fake writing with my dip pen and ink. Then added some stenciling with gesso and a sponge.

Next came some torn strips of paper.

A couple more pieces going across, and another stencil on the right side.

I finished up with a little sanding, a very light coat of cream paint over the strips to tone them down a bit, and added some black to give it a little punch. And there you have my little Strip Ease!
YeeHaw! Well done!
ReplyDeleteA lovely piece yet quite different to the usual bright colours you have been working in of late. I LOVE your fake writing, Janet, and I'm itching to try that myself in my next mixed media piece. It looks like fun!

ReplyDeleteI love the color combination, Janet! I think another reason this crusade appeals to me is that I love to see that torn edge...so delicious!

ReplyDeleteLove everything about this Janet. Especially the writing in the work. I really love seeing that-it gives the illusion of an antique piece. Very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteHope you're not too hot. It's the worst, hottest summer on the island we have had in years. Three of the same words daily. Hazy hot & Humid...ugh

ReplyDeleteWhat a great effect with the dip pen. I love the paper you started with too, good on you for being brave enough to work on top of it. I tend to hoard nice paper, which is silly I know!
