Guess what? No art! I'm in another art slump....can't seem to get myself going again. The weather has been incredible so maybe that's why I'm not interested in spending time in the studio. We are enjoying cooler temps than we usually have at this time of year and I'm lovin' it!

Just so you know....this is what my work table looks like today....

Lots of blank space....nothing inspiration....nada! Zip! Zilch! My brain went on vacation and forgot to take me along. I still have two faces drawn out and ready to paint but that's as far as I got. One has the background for her hair and the base coat of her skin and the other one has nothing but the pencil lines.

I haven't been reading blogs, haven't even been online much. Actually I've been cleaning house. It always happens when the weather gets nice. During the hot part of the summer I just do what has to be done and leave the rest. Now I'm getting the urge to clean. So if you don't see me around Blogland for awhile you know it's either because I'm cleaning or I'm sitting here looking at an empty worktable, trying to get back in the swing of things. Send me some inspiration if you have any extra. I could use it.

  1. Don't worry about being in an art slump. Think of it as time for your mind to rejuvenate itself with new ideas while you're cleaning house and enjoying the weather.

  2. We all get moments like that.
The thing is, you shouldn't feel guilty about it.
And if you absolutely want to be creative, why not do like Ninnie and make a doodle-a-day calendar (just fill one square at a time.)
    Sending you lots of inspiration.

  3. I am sending you some arty send them back to me....the slump continues

  4. Janet you are about the 5th person that has told me they feel like cleaning, I thought that happened in the spring. Enjoy the end of Summer, there will be plenty of days this Winter to spend in the Studio.

  5. sending you lots of inspiration vibes, Janet.
I agree with CurlysusieQ, take this time to take a break from art and come back rejuvenated and refreshed. We all need that some time, no stress, no pressure.

  6. I think that's great that you're cleaning!!! I'm wondering when my little cleaner-self will re-appear! Your artsy mind is still doing it's creative thing even as you tend to other tasks!! You know that right?

I told Jamie this morning I am bored on the computer/net right now. I seem to go through spots like that with the net just as I do with my art. Love Hugs and Blessings

  8. sending you even more arty vibes... I had a slump before then finished my halloween journal and felt great. Now its backt no inspiration also! oh well we'll all be back into the swing of things I'm sure!

  9. Sending you some arty vibes! I could do with some myself after a summer off. And right there with you on the cleaning- I'm on another (yes another) simplifying/ clutter clearing/ let's get everything organised mission.

  10. I miss you! See you upon your return! Enjoy the time away.

  11. Sometimes, we need these creative slumbers so we can rejuvenate our creative energies. Never fear, you will be back in the studio creating beautiful art in no time. I feel it in my bones ~ ;)

  12. Janet, I'm in a slump too..Unfortunately I don't feel like cleaning. Well, I DO feel like cleaning, but can't summon the energy. Wasn't there a quote from someone famous(movie star or something) that said "my idea of cleaning is to sweep the room with a glance" That's what I've been doing! LOL While you are cleaning, ideas are percolating in your head and will bubble up as soon as you sit down at your work table again. You are one of the most prolific creators I know!

  13. Plenty of inspiration here (time is my problem). I'll send some to you on loan. Please return when my slump comes along (it always does).

  14. I wish we were having your nice is STILL HOT here, in the 90's every day.
Seems like a lot of folks in blog land are taking a little break, myself encluded.I think I might have left my brain in Il. when we were on vacation. Be BLESSED in all that you do.

  15. The blank space on your table tells me that you are far neater when you leave your work space than I am. And I don't know about where you live, but weather is a key factor in NOT doing something when you are in Michigan! It can turn so quickly, when the sky is blue, it's sunny and warm (but not excruciatingly hot), you just have to take advantage of it!

Enjoy -- the muse will return!

  16. enjoy the cleaning! & the cool weather is on its way... it is a matter of fact :) xo

  17. I know Janet. Everything is blah! Is this a moon phase??? Right now it's raining HARD and the sound on the metal awnings is deafening. It makes Mz. Wee sleep, and the keets sing. LOL that's the only interesting thing I can think of. Pathetic, huh?

  18. I'm with ya...nothing is happening creatively...

  19. You will return inspired and productive Janet.
I've also done very little around the house this Summer, and it shows. Got to get my behind in gear too. No excuse now it's cooled down.
Look forward to seeing what you come up with after your break.
    big hugs

    Hi Janet!
I thought I'd pop in here and see what you're up to....and it sounds like you're going through what I just came out of.....and it's all good!

I think it's good to take the time away...revive, recharge...take care of those pesky and demanding domestic duties that always seem to be there.....

and when you are ready, the studio will call out to you...and you will enter and create....completely inspired and ready to roll!

thanks for coming hearing from you!

    ciao bella
