Pink was my mom's favorite color and it makes me think of her. At first I thought about doing a spread based on that but when I got started it went in a different direction so I just went with it.
First I covered my pages with scraps of pinkish papers.
I love starting my pages this way.
Then I used a brayer and added some pale pink paint.
I just kept adding layers of stencils, paper doilies, paint and whatever I could think of! I had a hard time deciding the focus of this spread because I did that one big no-no and let myself get attached to the background.
Each idea I had was met with
"I don't want to cover that part up"
Does that happen to you??
I finally decided on a quote I found online. It didn't have an author so I can't give credit to the person who wrote it....but it seemed to fit with my pages...."everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it." I like how the left side, above, is clear and easy to read....
But the right side is more difficult to read....
Below is a close-up of one corner.
On some of the pictures you can't see the white accents.
So that was my adventure into Pinkland. I hope you enjoyed it.

Now I'm off to work on some journals I'm trying to make. Have a fun day....

Your journal pages are beautiful! All the layers you have are so cohesive and the whole piece has such a soft feeling. These would be lovely as wrapping paper or even the basis for a elegent card.
You are definitely in the pink!!! Love it!! I know what you mean about layering. I do that all the time...I don't want to cover something up because that part looks good...what to do, what to do? I usually end up leaving it because I'm afraid that the next thing I do won't look as good. Another superb ICAD!
Mary
Your spread is so beautiful. I especially like the kind of "dusty" background with the more outstanding pink.
I'll just have to try that myself once, to cover the spread with paper I mean. Very nice, I just love pink.
Love the pink!
Think I may start the index cards in July. Have to finish knitting the blanket buddy for my son to be grand god-son!
These are awesome. You are so busy and productive with all the summer parties. And inspirational, per usual!
I love you that you followed where the pages took you and they are beautiful. I can see why you wouldn't want to cover them up. I am exactly the same!
I'm doing the index cards too.... I have them on my blog but haven't linked them yet!
That index card!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Awesome!!!
Janet, I LOVE your pink journal spread! So many gorgeous layers and details! Guess what I'm going to do today?... Yes, I get so proud of myself for finally creating a nice background and then I can't cover it up, lol! Well I'm off to do what you just inspired me to do...

See what you did? Now we're all inspired to cover our pages - even if we have to close our eyes while doing it ;) I lOVE this - and think that it makes a beautiful composition - soft, feminine and powerful. Just perfect, xo
Great page and the index card too. Don't you just love stencils?
Beautiful pages and so loving the shades and designs. Definitely an inspiration. Annette x
Love the layers on the pages..You did a great job with the pinks!
I'm not normally a pink person Janet but I do like what you have done here.
oh I understand you..to cover with many layers is a process who could be fun and wild at the same time..the result is beautiful...I like it very much and I am eager to see your next creation...I wish you a nice yellow week...xxx
so many lovely layers Janet and the pinks are so feminine and lovely. And I do have that problem sometimes of not wanting to cover the background. I get in a bit of a fluster sometimes over this. that's when I usually leave it for a couple of days or try to work around the bits I want to keep....dilemma's, dilemma's...sometimes I take a photo of the stage I like so if I cover it up I know how I got the stage I liked so I can do it again. Oh I don't know the right answer to that one lol.
Nice index card and I like that stencil. Which one is it?
Lee:)
I love love love your pink journal pages!
gorgeous pink! love the way you show all the stages of it evolving, and yes I am the same..have trouble deciding what to cover and what to put where!!! yours turned out perfect though!
It seems you hit on a problem many seem to share....I've found this to be true in doing crazy quilts. I still find I do not put as much on mine as most do. I loved the pink pages.
Gorgeous; so many details! I love all the layers~
I like this!
Hi Janet,
Way to go! I find pink really appealing although I don't use it much.
I must have a pink week and see what I come up with. lol
Creative hugs,
Anna
I find pink a difficult colour to use.. but I do love it
and your page is perfect. just reminds me of a mum :)
Really beautiful pages. I love pink, love the way you did all those layers. And showed the process. Yes I have the problem of covering things...that's why I have tons of "backgrounds" with no layers!
Cool stencil ICAD.
Oh Janet--I LOVE what you did here--all of these pink layers, and that quote is great--I'm going to remember that one!
Your journal pages are beautiful and I love all the layering and stencilling.
now i get to see the process
wonderful!!!
and the effects in the background is my kind of thing
love it love it love it!
Oh my goodness, this is so yummy. I love all the pretty pink layers & that quote you found is fabulous!
I love your pink spread. I often get attached to the background and it stops me and sometimes that's ok. Other times I close my eyes and do something drastic to make me move on.. Your background was a finished painting, and I'm so glad that you decided to keep it and only add a lovely quote to it.
I see it and I love it! Another great piece Janet.
pink is my fav colour as well, love those pages, and that index takes my breath away yellow and black I love those colours together.
I love your pink pages.
I did one for the summer of color too and actually wished i washed all over it with white like you did. Perhaps "I" was getting too attached to my background...hehehe.

Creating, like life, is a process..then again creating IS life LOL
happy day!
Oh yummy pages, pink is my favorite colour and you've made such a lovely spread! Now I want to go art journaling, but I need to finish the project (sewing) laying out on the table right now first. :-)
Take care!
I love your PINK day page! The flowers are gorgeous, I have seen this stencil elsewhere and fell in love right away. Thanks for sharing your inspirational page.
Hugs and blessings
You do the best backgrounds and then turn them into the most wonderful spreads. You're right -- pink IS summer!
Very neat idea. I like your pages and the message.
You sure are pretty in pink...TEE HEE. This looks like a lot of fun to me. I did very little today, It was a phone day...
Love this pink Day, Mary
Oh My gosh - I was so happy to find your pink post! Maybe it's in the air - I, too, created a pink post a while back - thought you might enjoy it! I truly enjoyed yours!!!

Janet your journal pages are beautiful... love the pretty pink collaged background and all the delicious texture...
Jenny x
Glad to see you've been 'in the pink!'
And that whole, lovin' the background thingy? I've struggled with that sometimes too...in fact, sometimes I've just stopped (and sadly, rarely end up going back to finish it, then). Glad you were brave and followed through on yours, though. It looks great!
