Summer of Color - Blue....

All around Blogland people are talking about the Summer of Color! So you know what that means....yep, I joined in. As if I didn't already have enough things going on, I jumped in because I love color.

The first color choice was blue which has never been one of my favorite colors although I do like turquoise.

I pulled out everything I had in blue and began a journal spread....

I tried taking photos in different light throughout the day but I couldn't get good photos that show how vibrant these pages really are. They look so much better in person so wanna come over and look at them here?!!
I tried everything I could think of to edit them and bring the colors out more but nothing worked. They look faded and lifeless in these pictures.
When I added the woman I knew she had to have some huge flowers in her hand but they get lost a little bit with all the stuff going on in the background. On some levels I'm really happy with this spread but on others I'd have to say it's not my best work.

************************************************************
And here is today's index card....I did this one in about 5 minutes!!

So that's it for today. I have several other journal spreads I'm working on so at least one of them should be finished for tomorrow.

Be sure to find some time to play today!

  1. Janet I loved the dragon card. I have the same problems with blues and teals, they are hard to photograph and I have never had much success fixing them in photoshop so at point I give up. You have been doing some fun work.

  2. Oh Janet I LOVE the journal pages - they seem serene to me, not washed out. Like the dragons, too. Makes me think of "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good dipped in chocolate".

  3. I think that these journal pages are lovely, the colours are very delicate, which gives the pages a calming effect. Am loving your daily cards.

  4. Janet love your BLUE. You always amaze me. I slayed the dragons (weeds and blackberries)yesterday and can hardly move today. Love your card!

  5. Love the patterns you've used on your journal pages, they really add interest. Your lady adds an air of mystery with her glasses.

I know what you mean about struggling to get a realistic photograph - I couldn't get the paint effects on my page to show up at all, so mine looks rather matt, when in fact it is alive with shimmer. Ho hum!

  6. Janet;
I too am not a huge fan of blue but find I do tend to use it sometimes. I think it is a color where you either love it or not-so-much. I really like your blue spread though, it looks like you used some nice teals in there and it goes really well together.
I love your Dragon index card! What a great card to have around, it's positive and gives you energy! Lovely!
    Hugs

  7. Oh, I think your spread is really nice. Blue tones mixed with green are always a winner for me. The patterns got me to think of UFOs or planets and they are really showing interest for that cool lady of yours.
    Well done I think.

  11. I think the blue page is very pretty - not a fan of blue either too much but do like torquise too which always reminds me of the sea.

  12. I just adore this journal spread with the turquiose and touches of green - my favorite color combo! I also have had trouble getting my colors to be as brilliant or even true to color on the aquas and turquoises. Of course it helps if the sun would come out! I've been trying to slay some dragons all day but I'm afraid they got me instead this time... :( Love the card! Hugs, Jessi xox

  20. Hi Janet...love your blue spread!! Blue's my favorite color...in all shades. I'm finding that I get better photos if I take my art outside to photograph it. I love the dragon card. I have finished five cards...have about 10 more cards to slay today or tomorrow.
