Summer of Color - Green

The heat is on! We're headed for 104ยบ today! Our only saving grace is we don't have much humidity which I'm extremely thankful for. I plan to stay inside and make art.
******************************************
I finished my green project for the Summer of Color. I'm not thrilled with it because I rushed myself too much. I started the background the first day that the color was chosen but then I left it and didn't do anything with it until last evening. So this isn't very good....

Left side....I messed up one of the hands.

Right side....very plain and uninteresting.
Green is not my favorite color
so I don't think I was inspired enough.

Here is my ICAD for yesterday....

and this is the one I did for today....
 *******************************************
Yesterday I also made a few little tags just for fun. Several of them are made with hang tags from clothes and other items. The larger ones are from a booklet of tags that I have. The designs weren't interesting so I just collaged over them. This is one side of the tags....

and this is the other side....
My favorite is the one at the bottom left with red and black. It actually has a light beige patterned background but it doesn't show up in the photo. These were all made using scraps from magazines, calendars and scrapbook papers. I love doing silly little things like this.

That's all I have today. Now I'm off to try and stay cool in the studio. Have a great day!!!

  1. Love your green background and how you wrote one word in each of the circles.

  2. I love them all, the tags are seriously great, and your way to hard on yourself, that the green page is very cool. Thats is a little to hot for me, today no rain sunny, I off to paint fabric on the deck.

  4. You are too hard on yourself. I love the design, looks like falling leaves and the greens are lovely. Also your tags are great and I love seeing your daily index cards, they always surprise me with how each is so different.

  6. The spread is fine but I can see you were less inspired than usual. Love the tags and how smart to use those hanging on clothes. I'll remember that till next time.
Your id-cards are really something and I often feel they speak directly to me. Especially the one that said wake up. I laughed to myself.

  7. I like the green spread a lot...never can green be unexciting...lol I love the tags...they will be good to put into the books you make. I hope you stayed cool...104 is hot! No matter where you live. 104 with all our humidity is almost deadly...I think it was around 90 here today.

  13. Maybe you aren't happy with it because you don't like green, because I do like green and I like it. I also like your index cards and tags! I love collage with magazine bits.

  14. Wow, you did a lot of stuff! I love the green, because I love the color. Your tags are great, and I think your ICADs are the nicest ones I've seen on the site...Don't tell anyone else!

We had a cooling trend here today. After 17 straight days of triple digits, it was only 99 here, but factor in humidity, it was 104. Yikes!

I love your green, I do like green....so I'd probably add some more rose for contrast and maybe some glittery sequins in green....or stitch organza over it! (you know I love to stitch!)

  23. I have trouble with green too Janet, colour can either put me in a good mood or bad, creative or not. I like your green page, it looks tranquil and green is the colour of healing. Your tags and cards are fun too, funky and bright.
