Did I mess her up?
I decided to add some detail on the forehead of this painting....
I like it but HB was less than lukewarm about it.
I'm always one who likes lots of embellishments and added texture but too often I stop before I get there. So this time I just decided to add something else and see what happened. I like her and I think she looks exotic....but she may not be for everyone. What do you think?
NOTE: at the suggestion of Giggles I'm linking this with Paint Party Friday.

I like it! She does look very exotic. The pattern reminds me of a henna tattoo.
ReplyDeleteI like her very much. The only thing I perhaps would have tried is to tone the colour down a bit. A soft grey or something like it. Since you're asking. Best thing though is to follow your own heart.
ReplyDeletevery very COOL!
ReplyDeleteI think of Moire tattoos and the tribal tattoo'd women of Dewz, Tunisia. It works!
ReplyDeleteShe is totally wonderful. x
ReplyDeletePersonally I love how these left handed people turned out. I especially like the eyes...I think they are less contrived!! Yes I am a pattern freak so I like the uniqueness of it!! Sometimes we have to embrace what comes through, it's not always our choice, it just happens!!
ReplyDeleteGood job!!
Hugs Giggles...put her on paint party friday...great people there!!!
she is SO cool. the patterned forehead and nose are amazing. great to see you here at PPF - I always enjoyed seeing your index cards over the summer!
ReplyDeleteI really like the contrast in value and texture.
ReplyDeleteLots of great rhythm and movement and colors!

ReplyDeleteHi Janet...when I first looked at your girl, I thought...I don't know about that...then I went down and looked at the way it was before and I like it better now...nope...not a "mess up"!
ReplyDeleteMary
i see the very first comment mentions that the forehead and nose resembles a henna tattoo - i totally straight up agree.
ReplyDeleterock it, friend. rock the tattoo...
xx,
amy
I like this girl! There is something about her that I can't quite put my finger on, whether it's the colours, the pattern or that it's drawn left handed. She is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery creative and original ~ something about her that draws you to her ~ thanks ~ namaste, Carol ~ Happy PPF ^_^
ReplyDeleteNo matter what the general opinion, do you like? ... Then it is divine ....Saludos
ReplyDeleteI think she's beautiful! One can't always please everyone, and it would be sad if that was one's only thought when making art. ;) It's about creating what you love!
ReplyDeleteAwesome work!

Janet, I like this. It's original and fresh. I agree with the other comments. You're HOT!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the henna tattoo comment, it is lovely, so glad you joined.
ReplyDeleteShe's really really cool! I like the comparison to Tunisian and Maori tattoos.
ReplyDeleteI like her, she could be an avatar.
ReplyDeleteI like her a lot I like that she is so different and bright
ReplyDeleteI don't just like her I LOVE HER!!! she is the BOMB!
ReplyDeleteNo mess up at all. She is most interesting! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI agree with some of the others; looks like a henna tatoo and make her more exotic looking. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your colorful artwork. I'd say just roll with your creative self as she always knows the best way to do things ... :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks wonderfully exotic and fun!
ReplyDeleteI think you picked the right paper to go on this Janet. She is looking great
ReplyDeleteLee:)
Quiet a unique gal! The henna tattoo is totally capturing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, I really like her!
ReplyDeleteI like the pattern but for me, I would prefer to have some of that green/blue color from the lower part of the face in the background of the pattern instead of the flat white. It would tie it together better and give more form to that section. But that is just what I would like and you should do what YOU like. I love the headdress and that greenish tone in her skin.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the henna comment...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like it also and if it makes you happy, that's perfect. You need to do what pleases you.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! The detail on the forehead is wonderful! I love the bright contrasts! Great work! Deb
