Today all I have to share with you is some work in progress. I showed you the two prepped canvases a few days ago and I've been working on them when I can find time. The first one is a 12" x 12" canvas and I'm doing a quirky face on it. This began as a non-dominant hand drawing. I am going to change the background drastically (it looks like crap right now!) and she still needs work on her face but so far....
Here's her face....sorry about the photo quality....
I like doing these quirky faces
and using all different colors rather than just skin tones.
I'll be adding more color to her face but for now
this is it!
The second canvas is 16" x 20"
and I've drawn a face with her chin in her hand.
I hate doing hands so I'm sort of forcing myself to try them. I never have a problem drawing a face. It's the painting that does me in. This one is just in the preliminary stages and looks pretty crappy right now.
Be sure to stop by and see what everyone else is painting. You'll see much more interesting art than I have here today!

Love it all! Great that you are challenging yourself! ~ ~ thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ^_^
So beautiful! I love the bold colors in the first piece and the second WIP is so elegant - I really love the colors and pose - hands are SO hard for me too - yours are really pretty, xoxo
The hand looks fine to me and that whole piece will be a beauty. She is a beauty as is now and with your magic hands I can only imagine.
I've never tried to paint a face using other colours than skintones, you've inspired me to try. Yours look so natural inspite of the colours.
You are brave trying a hand... I avoid them like the plague, but the second face is coming along really well...xx
nice work this week! Interesting using other colours for skin tones.
I think your first painting is sort of tremendous in it's boldness. I love her hair. The second one sort of looks like Helena Bonham Carter, and I think her hand is really quite good, add a little shading here and there. The position and the curl of the fingers is really great.
The bottom painting is off to a great start! Hands can be a challenge, I seem to be putting them in all my paintings of late, so I understand your hesitation. They are well worth adding though.
I did a post on painting hands a little while back:

Hope it helps, and Good luck with them. Happy PPF.

I like the way the last girl is holding her chin/face with her hand now that you mention it I dont see many hands here(now I know why) and this one looks terrific!! the girl looks so pensive!
I love the colorful face and her hair is fabulous.
The chin-in-hand gesture is perfect. looking forward to seeing how she develops! -Karen
Great works-in-progress. So different in many ways yet both utterly charming!
I love both of those faces, you have those girls perfectly, I am jealous.....
I love this lately developed nose thing you've got going on. its cool. and I have no way of defining it more than that :)
I also really like the last painting in its unfinished state. Cant wait to see what you do with her

Your use of color just makes me smile! You've such an eye for it, the talent, too!
Hi Janet...You are on a roll!!! Both are great faces! I have been doing more faces with my non-dom hand. The second face is looking very interesting...I can't wait to see what you do with it...I like her expression.

It does NOT look crappy! None of it. Plus, I wish I had that wispy hair. :)

So funny, I used to do the same with hands! I still try to leave them out because they are never easy. Beautiful faces!
Oh these are cool! I especially love that lady with her chin in her hand (I think you did great with her hand, btw). You're making me want to put down the needle and pick up the paintbrush again - but I gotta get at least this one thing done, first...Actually, first I better get off this doggone computer or I'll never get anything done, lol.
Have a warm and wonderful weekend, creating by your cozy fire!
Love your quirky faces, they are awesome! Happy PPF!
I love doing quirky faces too. They are just so fun to create & love how you used different colored skin tones! Hands drive me bonkers...serious hair pulling out bonkers. I think your hand looks great. I definitely need to practice more!
Wow you are so good at faces! I love the hair and bangs on the first one! Happy PPF!Deb
The hands are looking good. Please keep at it, I think you may have it. Blessings, Janet PPF
