As many of you know I have a long-time friend named Gail....we've been friends since we were about nine years old. She always makes the most incredible gifts for me. Recently she sent me a journal that she made and it's fantastic! I wish you could all see it in person because these photos don't do it justice....plus there are many more pages that I didn't photograph.
This is what she did for me....

There are many more beautiful pages in this journal. I plan to use this as a memory journal so when I'm gone my kids will have some of my memories to keep. At first I thought the book was too pretty to use but then I thought about all the love and time and effort that went into making it and I wanted to acknowledge that by actually using the journal.
Having a friend like Gail is truly a gift in itself. I always say that I get much more out of this friendship than she does. My gifts to her are never as creative and personal as the ones she makes for me. I hope each one of you has a "Gail" in your life....a friend like that is precious. Thank you, Gail, for being my BFF and for always creating such beautiful gifts for me. You are one in a million!

what a special friend you have. love the book, it is meant to be used.
ReplyDeletealso, welcome back, you were missed.

Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous gift from a special friend.
Nothing like a bestie!
Thank you for sharing.
Creative hugs,
Anna
That is so beautiful and such a thoughtful gift! I bet your family will treasure it. What a great friend!
ReplyDeleteI count myself lucky to have had a best friend since 12. I call her my 'forever friend.' It's such a blessing to have someone who has known all the different phases of life with you and really 'gets' you.
So glad you and Gail have each other too.
Gorgeous!!!!!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous - the journal and so is gails spirit for being such a lovely person and friend!
ReplyDeletegreat journal, I to have a couple of gails in my life, and am so glad and thankful for them. Now we all know Oprah is not the only one to have gail in her life
ReplyDeleteThat is EXACTLY the kind of book that you MUST write in. You're right -- a treasure for your children. Gail is indeed a special friend, creative and thoughtful in every way. But then, something tells me you get as good as you give. And on that note, thank you for your lovely card and the "strength" atc. I am putting it someplace where I can see it every day as I muddle along and get stronger and healthier. It's lovely and it means so much. thank you!
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing book! I know that feeling of something being "too pretty to use" but if we don't use it it doesn't bring us any joy. I have this plate that was a wedding gift from special friends and I'm so afraid of it breaking that I don't use it. But then it sits on a shelf where I can't see it and enjoy it. how dumb is that? You will fill your journal with even more beauty!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like bestfriends. Your book looks great, and what an opportunety to tell your stories. The hard thing will probably be to choose what to include.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
Janet, So glad you liked the journal and thank you for all the kind things you said. I really liked what Gigglels said, "You attract what you are". I could never make a gift worthy of you and our friendship. Love you girl.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure! Gail has truly made you the perfect gift. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAhh Janet...I want a Gail!!! You are so lucky to have a friend that digs the same things you do! I bet you guys have a lot of fun together!! I say USE the book....and for that matter...use your crystal, your china, wear the nice clothes!! Enjoy all that you have!! You are truly blessed :D
ReplyDeletep.s....I received the nicest Christmas card from my virgo twin yesterday!!! I'm going to do something special with the zentangle inside!! Thanks :D
Gail is a great friend and must feel as lucky as you do. I feel lucky having you as a regular friend. You certainly deserve all
ReplyDeletethe best.
What a beautiful and meaningful gift! She clearly knows her friend well. I think your idea to use the book as a keepsake for your children is wonderful...such a special purpose for a special book. I love how she personalized it for you throughout!
ReplyDeleteWow your friend is a very creative person with a beautiful imagination, so much detail with love she had given you in your lovely book.
ReplyDeleteDear Janet-yes! we missed you. But sometimes taking a break from all things tech is just the thing! Oh!! I love your journal. It is so over the top beeeeyooootiful!!! i agree with you...the bigger gift is the friendship. Oh! Janet...I am sure you give Gail other (just as precious) gifts in your friendship as well. they could be your time, heart and loyalty...keep that in mind:)
ReplyDeleteP.S. thanks for your words of support on my blog today. I am pretty excited about being in Somerset!! xxx
