Playing in the Studio...

Yesterday we had some rain and it was the perfect day to just do nothing...which is pretty much what I did! But I did find a journal spread that I hadn't shared with you. I did this in my Book of  Days journal...

It began with a picture from a magazine, then I painted over it and added some UPC labels which I think are great graphic accents.

I also recently painted this face...

I did her on one of my hardback book covers. I layered on some old book pages and then painted her. She's given me a lot of trouble with her face shading. I just can't seem to get it right so I just gave up and called her done!

I also doodled around with these flowers. I wish I had added some brighter colors but for now this is what it is. They sort of remind me of octopus arms!! Maybe they're octopus flowers!

And that's what I've been up to recently. I hope you're all creating lots of fun art, too. Keep playing...

How cool to see you play! They're all gorgeous. I can't see any problem with the face, but then again I don't know what you was aiming for. The octopus flower is special too, I like it alot. As is your spread. I haven't tried to paint over a magazine image so perhaps it's time to try that.

My knees are a bit better today but no running I think. Have to make sure that it disappears.
Have the most wonderful day!!

Wow! You blew me away with this post. Love barcodes..I have a rubberstamp of one that I used to use, but totally forgot I had till now. That grey bkground and the painted girl is very cool. Octopus flowers are my favorite kind! The faces you do always look fabulous to me.

Sometimes just playing is the most relaxing thing ever. My future daughter in-law came over recently and we just played with art stuff from 2pm until midnight! The time flew by!

Love your play works Janet!

The purple and yellow is fun -- and you're right -- they do look a tad like octopus!
