I still need to do a lot more work on her...
especially on her hand but I'm happy with the start.
Maybe later she'll become a painting.
I like using magazine pictures for inspiration. I change things that I don't like...after all it's my drawing. I closed her mouth in my version because I don't like doing teeth. And I may change her hair. Who knows what I'll end up doing with this drawing but it's fun to do something I've not done in awhile.

Hands are always so hard. I think I've only liked a hand I've drawn maybe once or twice in my life.
ReplyDeleteYou're really good at drawing like this. I think it's really good practice too.
Hi Janet. Inspiration is free for the taking everywhere. I like the start here. I prefer the mouth closed. It changes the mood of the portrait entirely.
ReplyDeleteYour drawing looks great. Awhile back I felt the need to do the same thing. For me it's useful to practise on how a real face is built. I think I need to do it properly before I can start to use my imagination only. Like you I prefer not drawing teeth. And, as you say, we can always change things.
ReplyDeleteYou know that Rembrandt was paid extra for hands ... that's how tough they are. I like your new lady.
ReplyDeleteit's always good to challenge ourselves. good start.
ReplyDeleteReally, really good start Janet! She is going to be beautiful.

ReplyDeleteHands are hard! It looks fabulous so far though. And I like the idea of drawing something every day. I have gotten out of the habit.
ReplyDeletewow she already looks wonderful, would be fabulous painted. x
ReplyDeleteThats how I found the picture of my muse, and then I made her my own with many changes. I am working on her today..I draw so very little, but she is fun.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a great start on this painting.
And I enjoyed the Poppy day trip...we have something called Arts in the park each year. People come from all over to share their talents. We get something cold to drink and just look. I was trying to remember if I have bought anything...Idon't think so. Have a great day...stay cool, Mary
We have been working in the yard and I have soooo lost touch, great job on the drawing and I like your new header, love the red and the girl Georgia.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet...I love your your new banner...it looks very very nice!
ReplyDeleteI like drawing from magazines too...such freedom. But mine NEVER look like the person for some reason.
:(
This is fabulous... Janet!
ReplyDeleteGreat thinking, love this idea. :]
I agree, the style magazines has a lot of faces and poses to work with.
Great job... ((hugs))
SHe is looking great Janet. I love to take the time to draw, I always enjoy it. It just seems difficult to find the time sometimes, as I know the time will fly by so quickly! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYour Drawing is very good, I have always find hands hard to draw including the feet.
ReplyDeleteI been away for awhile from blogging and now I have return...I not been into much art though perhaps your blog would changed that?
Hi Janet...I think you may be on to something...she looks wonderful!! Hair is always a challenge, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMary
She looks great - look forward to seeing more of your drawings, of course!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing with magazine pictures. My drawings are often not even close to what the original looks like but I still like to start with a forma or shape. When I just use my imagination the drawings are not as good.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it will be great. In Tam's interview she and Effy talk about that. Talk about doing something everyday. That is a great way to make progress.
Kate
Oh! This is wonderful! Love the tilt of her head and hands! (they are so hard for me ;) and those luscious lips. Glad you are back on the drawing board (had to) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI tried to do this just the other day--draw a model from a magazine--and OH, your drawing was MUCH more successful than mine! I guess I need more, more, more practice!
