As I was painting this face, I kept asking her what her name was...and then she told me. Her name is Georgia. Not sure why but that's what she said to me.
I kept her somewhat monotone. I loved the background and didn't want to do too much to it. The number "1" in the lower right was something I wanted to keep since this is the first time I've done an under painting like this. I did the shoulders of her jacket as if they had faded and run a little bit. HB doesn't like it. What do you think?

I really like her. Not sure what "under painting " is but I love the background.
ReplyDeletei like her and the whole technique. really different for you.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes I do! I love the monotone colors and there is a softness in her face that I have noticed in your women. Lovely lips, fab hair and I love the #1 kept in there. Bravo, xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the ladies that you draw.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like is that you put your stamp on all ...
I look at each one a little of your expression ... congrats!
She is stunning! I love what you did with the colors this time, she looks so soft and that beautiful neckline. There are a lot of depth in there too. The way she sort of fade/wanish is a great detail too. Make it a lot more exciting I think. And the background..... no wonder you didn't want to cover it too much.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Janet and inspiring too. Thanks for sharing!
I like Georgia. She is certainly different and I bet HB doesn't like her because he likes COLOR! ;D ;D
ReplyDeleteI like her too..I really would say I love it..
ReplyDeleteI think it is one of the best pieces you have done Janet. I really like the monotone, it's very eye catching yet restful too. Love it! ♥
ReplyDeleteThe monotone is really striking. I see Georgia as a 40's woman with a new "bob" and I think she is wearing shoulder pads, even though they don't show...She's quite dashing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her!! Love her!! I think you have a real gift for this!! Why doesn't husband like her? I'm curious...
ReplyDeleteThere is something about this face that really appeals to me Janet.I love the colour as well and you can't please HB all the time can you.
ReplyDelete"Georgia"... is perfect!! :]
ReplyDeleteSimply adore her ((hugs))
I'm with Sheila on this one, and then again in a few paintings or so you'll do something different again and it will be another fave! I love this one - she seems different to the others. Youre not channelling from another plane are you by chance?
ReplyDeleteI like it, she reminds me of a woman in the 1940's or earlier. DId you like the process?
ReplyDeleteI love her, she is beautiful and I love that under painting, how did you do it, spill
ReplyDeleteGeorgia is stunning. I love the muted palette and the way the background shows through and her confident inquisitive expression.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia is so different from anything you have done...a new adventure you went on in art. I like her big time...Have a great Wed. hugs, Mary
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic and real! I like the effects in her clothing and the background.
ReplyDelete"Georgia on my mind". She is lovely. Funny that you sort of have pecan colors. So HB doesn't like her...well, what does he know about Georgia girls!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat Kristin said! She summed it up perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAlso, there's something about her expression. It really speaks to me. It's like she's finally revealed something to the viewer that has been weighing heavily on her mind, and she's waiting for a response. But not in a meek, or scared kind of way, but rather in a slightly cocky kind of manner. Like "Whaddaya think of that?!?!"
I like Georgia very much! Love the palette that you used. Congratulations on your sale. Your wall of Art is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis could be my very favorite! Love the way you painted her and I like her name.
ReplyDeleteI really love the colors in Georgia...so earthy and natural.
ReplyDeleteWell, I love Georgia! She reminds me of someone from an old movie or something. I will think of it later. Love the brown tones.
