I truly messed it up!
These are from back in the 90's. I have a lot more but I couldn't find them this morning. But you get the idea. Flowers were the only thing I drew for a long time. And I added color to them. What happened??!!
Maybe I'm just not interested in flowers anymore. It did seem like I was forcing myself to do them. Sometimes it's good to challenge myself to do something different but then other times it doesn't work...it looks forced. That's what happened here. So I'll do more flowers if the mood strikes me and if not, then you may not see anymore!!
Have a great weekend!!

OMG I love it....why don't you? It's so pretty....try a yellow wash over the dark green leaf...maybe add a few more leaves to the ones that are dark. Or cut out the flowers and collage them onto something else...experiment...they are so beautiful!! Darn it!!

i like the leaves and the flowers, and your other old art is amazing as well
ReplyDeleteJanet, I agree with the others. These are lovely, as are your other pieces. Happy Tiler is right, you could use them for collage...don't abandon them.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Janet
Oops, it was Giggles who commented about using them for collage. So sorry.
ReplyDeleteXoxox Janet
If you were forcing yourself to do them, it may have been better to leave them until another time. However, I think they're still looking good with lots of potential.
ReplyDeleteI love your pointillism sunflower!
I adore that last one - the rose, actually all your flowers are amazing janet, but yes, if the moods not there.....
ReplyDeleteAlthough what I like most are the faces of women that you do, I have to tell you that your flowers are fabulous. Where have you been working on now maybe if you try your leaves with more light and shade you like more. The flowers that you had saved ... uyyyyy!! are beautifull. I love!, In espcial I like the second.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and Have a good weekend.
It's all been said. I do like your flowers but I can understand it if they don't look like you planned it. Do as you usually do, put them aside for awhile and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday.
I agree perhaps the leaves need a little more light and dark. The flowers are gorgeous, along with all your older work. I especially live the birthday flowers and the close up one above it.
ReplyDeleteAm liking your new look blog as well.
Your art Journal is a journey...right? Although your flowers are stunning, you have been there and are moving on to somewhere else. Makes perfect sense to me! But thanks for sharing these lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteWell Janet, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and no matter what you think, I am beholding beauty! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are something! I think they are all fabulous.
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI've been there before -- I've added something to a piece and been like... what the heck did I do?!? It's frustrating, and I've learned to put the project away until I can look at it with a fresh perspective.
I like the idea of using the flowers for a collage. They're beautiful! Also, I love your work from the 90's -- strange enough, this was when I was doing my flowers, too. And butterflies, which are a lot like flowers when you think about it. :)
Janet, I like your flowers!! And you so remind me of me if I am not happy with something or energized by it anymore...possibly since you are really good at flowers you need to challenge yourself using them in a different way. -Your Very Virgo Friend :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your flowers Janet - frustrations and all. Your old flower paintings are beautiful but I feel that perhaps your painted faces are more revealing of "you". But I agree, it's good to challenge yourself to do something different.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am not seeing what you are seeing !!!! I really like them
ReplyDeleteI know you do great things with petals, some of my favorite are the gowns you draw. Tell M hello for me.
Hi Janet...love all these flowers!!! You may be forcing it but the results are great!!! I like the color on the ones you started the other day. I'm behind...as usual :)

Now! Now! This is lovely. You are just not in the mood for painting flowers and that is okay, but I think they are pretty...Love, Mary
ReplyDeleteWell, I dont' think your new flowers look nearly as bad as you seem to think they do! :-) But those from the 90s are beautiful, especially that last one.
ReplyDeleteHi I just wanted to let you know I have been reading through your archives and I love your blog. I mentioned one of your posts (your birthdate events from Wikipedia) I would love it if you came and visited me, thanks
ReplyDeleteLove the header...great!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think they look good too. But I do understand your feeling about the whole thing. If your heart is not in it I would just move on to something else. There are so many things in art to explore
ReplyDeleteI like your oldies and really, I don't see anything wrong with your flowers you painted. They're pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour to hard on yourself. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing your watercolor flowers before. Beautiful! I'm in love with the poinsettia with her one petal rebelling and "escaping" from the background. I really like the new flowers too...
