But today I have a tidbit to share with you. I know several people have been talking about a May Flower Challenge...I'm not sure who actually started it but I thought I'd give it a whirl. I haven't done many flowers lately and I used to draw nothing but flowers! I had a restless night last night so I got up very late this morning and this is as far as I've gotten but it's a good start...
As you can see, I have several books about drawing or painting flowers. I just pulled out three that I hadn't looked at in years and began flipping through the pages...but I went back to my old stand-by. There's something about the shape of the petals I drew that is so ingrained in me that I think I could draw them in my sleep! My hand automatically wants to make that shape when I think flowers.
The page isn't finished yet but it feels good to be doing this.
And PS - I did this without any pencil!
That's almost a first for me!

I read your post with a smile on my face. Excactly the same happens to me when I'm drawing leafes. It's almost like there's no other shape than the one lying in my hand. Your flowers looks great and I'm sure they will be even greater when done.
ReplyDeleteWe've had our first summerday here today and have been working in the garden all day. Lots of cleaning done and even more to do. A huge garden is nice but demands a lot of work too.
love your flowers, cant wait to see more
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you joined us in the may flower challenge. Ialso joined the 29 faces group...thanks to you and Jenny...lol...it will be fun and at least it will get me doing something, hopefully.
ReplyDeleteMary

ReplyDeleteWithout a pencil? You made me smile! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAll in pen! Daring girl! And I love your celebration of May Day - drawing - perfect! xo
ReplyDeleteI like them already. I usually find flowers much harder than cats, birds or dogs.
ReplyDeletenow I can imagine the brilliant colours your going to make them!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are off to a great start! :)
ReplyDeleteAll in pen...WOW! I'm impressed! They look stunning so far and I can't wait to see where you take them.
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers! Funny thing, I used to draw nothing but flowers too, and I made them in that shape -- which I often transferred to embroidery. It's a soothing shape to draw!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work! Sometimes it's good for us to jump around from thing to thing instead of concentrating on one project. It's like a creative exercise. :)
