Day 2 of Being Creative...

So already on the second day of the month my creativity faded! What is going on with me?? I finally did manage to do a couple of simple things.

We have a small sun plaque that hangs on the wall of our patio. It had a greenish patina and I was tired of it. So yesterday I began painting it with some brighter colors...

I gessoed over the entire thing then began adding yellow, orange and red. In this state it doesn't look too good but then I added some brown this morning...(does that count for being creative today!?)

and now it looks more like what I wanted.

And late last night after HB went off to bed, I got out my sketch journal and started a doodle. I didn't get very far with it but at least I was creative yesterday!

I'm not sure where this is going but so far I'm happy with it. Maybe I'll do more on it later today. I have to run out to do some errands so I'll have to wait 'til afternoon.

  1. Hi Janet,
I find that my creativity waxes and wanes. Sometimes I get so inspired to develop an idea and other times, I feel nothing but frustration. I'm never sure why this happens or how to overcome it. I haven't posted in my blog lately, because I'm not sure I want people to see what I've done. It can be disheartening.
I like your sun plaque very much. It looks so cheery! The zentangle doodle that you started looks like it will be interesting. I hope you keep working at it.
    Hugs,
    Janet

  3. Your sun plaque looks great with your treatment, and of course that count as creativity. Your doodle sketch looks as it's going to be great as well. Keep going Janet, it sure helps.
Right now I had a good laugh because of a post showing below this one. It's called: Exercise is a Four-Letter Word!
    Hallelujah!!

  4. Love what you did with that Sun face. I always love the green/patina or rusty look myself, and most of my ornaments are just that. I really like the change that a shot of color provides. It's got me glancing at my spray paint cans and thinking....

  6. It is amazing what that brown did for the sun plaque - love it!! So cool -
I also enjoy the girl peeping out of your tangle - she's cute! Donna Downey says that when she isn't feeling particularly creative that "forward movement" is what is important. . .

  10. I'm so glad you showed the sun before you added the brown so we could fully appreciate what that layer of color did to the whole piece. It's wonderful (and totally counts).
