It's That Time of Year...

As you can see, I finished the second snowman...and several other small projects. Today my son arrives so I probably won't be posting too much over the next couple of weeks. I'll try to pop in and visit everyone as much as possible but don't think I've forgotten you if I don't.

Also I'd like to thank everyone who has sent me such beautiful Christmas cards. Sadly that's one more thing I may not get done...I haven't even started my cards so they might not get sent out this year. I've been concentrating on getting everything ready for my son's visit.

So if I don't get back beforehand...Merry Christmas...Happy Holidays...Happy Hanukkah...Season's Greetings...however you celebrate I hope it's wonderful!

Busy, Busy, Busy...But Not Much to Show

Right now there's just so much I'm doing that I can't show you. But I did manage to get one of my old posts made into a snowman.

You might remember these...

This is how one of them looks now.

I waited too long to get some holiday fabric.
It was all picked over and not much that I liked
but it will have to do for now.
I'll finish the other snowman later this afternoon.

Once again my work table is a mess!
And that shape cutter in the lower right corner
is going straight back to the store!
It's a piece of crap!!

I hope you're having some creative fun today.

Let the Painting Begin!!

Today only, Michael's has Artist Loft canvases on sale for 70% off! I couldn't pass up that deal. I was there when they opened and quickly loaded up my cart...

I got a few 6 x 6...8 x 8...10 x 10...and 12 x 12
being practical!

Then I couldn't pass up these...

I got a 30 x 40 and two 12 x 36!
I'm not sure where I'm going to store all these
until I can use them but I couldn't pass up a deal like this.
Merry Christmas to me!!

More Christmas Decorating...

Since I have nothing that I can share with you yet (too many gifts in the making!) I thought I'd just show you a bit more of what we've done around the house...

Here's a shot of the tree in the daytime...
and my little reindeer on the table.

Ever since we moved into this house I have hated the chandelier in the dining room!
But at Christmastime I like hanging ornaments from it.

The china cabinet gets a few ornaments in bowls and three Santa heads...

A close-up of one side...

and the other.

I like these Santa heads. They're actually supposed to be ornaments but they're so big and so heavy that I don't use them on a tree.

Okay, that's some of what we've done with the house this year. There may be more decorating done as the days go on. I have a lot more stuff to pull out of the boxes.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

It's definitely the holiday season! I'm up to my eyeballs in projects and my work table is buried. But that's a good thing considering how much of this past year I've spent in an art slump.

I worked more on my Three Wise Men...

And here they are...finished...I think!

I used gold leaf paint which is hard to see in a photo. I think they look fresh and clean. I may add some other accents but can't think of how to do it. They seem to need a punch of something. At this moment they're done. I need to find some pretty candles for them now. I used to buy gold teardrop candles but haven't been able to find them for several years.

The big tree in the living room is finally decorated. It took several days and some help from HB but here it is...

I love this tree! It's one of those tall, skinny trees and it works great in our small living room. We have very high ceilings in there...this tree is 9' tall and with the angel it's probably close to 10'. I always use only red or gold ornaments on this tree. Next year I think I might try just all gold and see how I like that.

We have a smaller 6.5' tree we put up in the family room but this year we only used 2/3 of the tree! We left off the whole bottom part of it and just made a table-sized tree. I think it looks cute...

Most of our decorations are up and we can just enjoy them. My son arrives on the 14th so we're almost ready for him. I still have to do last minute things in the guest room. And, of course, bake some cookies!

If you're interested I put some pics of Harley and LuLu over on my photo blog. Now I'm off to work on more projects.

Art For Sale and Other Things...

I'm finally doing it! I have a new blog where I'm selling some of my art. Right now I just have a few Winter Girls listed but hope to have more in the future.

You can go here to see them.

***********************************

I've also been working on some other things...

I finished two of the ornaments I was working on.

And I started re-doing these...

I made these Three Wise Men back in the late 60's or early 70's. I went to a ceramics class for about a year. These Wise Men are about the only thing I have left from that class. They were done in a dark blue/gray and years later I added the gold (rather badly, I might say!)

I want to do them in cream with an antique wash and slight gold highlights. The base will also be gold. I just have the first coat of cream on them now but plan to work on them later today.

A couple of days ago I put this little tree in my studio...

It's small and white even though it looks pink here. I only have a few ornaments on it right now. I want to make some small ones to add later.

Plus HB put up our big tree in the living room a few days ago. I still don't have it decorated! I go in there and add one or two ornaments and walk away. He, on the other hand, has decorated the arch between our living room and dining room...

and also decorated the big arched window in the dining room. That center piece in the archway is actually a fireplace screen that my daughter gave us several years ago. We decided to use it on the arch/shelf this year. If you click on the picture you can see it's snowmen.

And speaking of snowmen, I'm still working on those ones I showed you last week. I hope to get them finished soon. And that's about it from here! I hope you're having a creative, fun day.
