Some Pages in Progress...

Yesterday was the first ever Holiday Handmade Boutique at Legacy Commons. I had a table as did about 18 - 20 others. Mostly there were knitted, crocheted, or sewn items for sale. I was the only one who had art. I took lots of small items...4" x 4", 5" x 5" and some 5" x 7" pieces. I also took copies of some of my drawings...the BoHo Girls. I sold quite a bit. This was my table area...

HB made the pegboard stand for me and it worked great.
Sorry these pics aren't great but I was in a hurry to get set up.

I've also been doing a little work in my art journal. I think this one is close to being finished...

I'll probably do some more doodling on it! You know me!

I'm also working on another spread.

This one needs quite a bit more work...

This is a postcard I received from Kate Robertson. I knew I wanted to use it in my journal because I like sunflowers. They remind me of my paternal grandma and grandpa who lived on a cattle ranch in southwestern Kansas. There always seemed to be lots of sunflowers when we visited.

Doing Things the Wrong Way...

It's been quite some time since I've done a journal spread that didn't involve collage. Yesterday for my class I had everyone do a background, then draw some "strings" along the top of their pages and hang something from them. Later the string lines can be used to journal. I saw something like this on Pinterest and decided to change it up and make it my own. Here is what I did...

I'm calling this spread String Theory...

it reminds me a bit of Christmas ornaments!

I guess it 'tis the season...almost!

You knew it would HAVE to have circles and dots!

As for the title of this post, this spread was done sort of "bass ackwards" as I drew on my shapes first and then realized I hadn't done a background. The shapes were just drawn over a gessoed page in my current art journal, which is an altered book. I had to paint around all the shapes I already had on the pages so my background is a little splotchy. Then it was time for my favorite part...embellishing!

I can't wait to see what everyone does with this project. Only a couple of people finished theirs in class.

Collages on Wood...

I've been working on some new art...going back to my first love which is collage. I'm currently working on four pieces, each 12" x 12". These are done on birch plywood that HB cuts for me.

This one makes me think of a jungle so I've named it...
In the Jungle

Sorry this photo is a bit blurry but I think you get the idea.
Not sure what I'm calling this one...
and I don't think it's finished yet.

I love working on wood. Collage pieces go down so nicely and don't seem to wrinkle as much as on a canvas. Plus I can use my paint pens without any problems. I think from now on it's going to be wood for me!
