Beginning the New Year With Some Art...

I know there are only a small handful of you who still read my blog and you probably wonder what happened to me. I was in a very "bah, humbug" mood for most of the holiday season. Every year it seems to get worse and worse with all the commercialism. Buy this, buy that...they've just ruined Christmas for me. Plus I didn't think anyone would be at our house this year but as it turned out my daughter and her roommate were able to be here.

All in all, I had a very good Christmas and as always I'm very inspired to get the new year started. I think 2016 is going to be a good year for me. Not sure why I feel that way but I do.

Here is a journal page I've been working on for the past couple of evenings and it still isn't finished...I started it on New Year's Eve day and worked on it again yesterday.

I'm just doodling with some new Sharpies I got for free at Staples! We had $13 in bonus points and they had these Sharpies originally $17.49 marked down to $10 so I grabbed them.

I'm working in my altered book journal. I didn't do anything to the pages, just started drawing with the Sharpies. Some of the doodles are inspired by what was already on the page, others are just me. I'll share it when it's finally finished.

And I'm so proud of  the students in my art journal class. They have really been doing some wonderful art. Recently we did a class about how to just use collage to create an art piece. They were interested in how I did this piece...

And here is a piece done by one of the women in my class...

It's so beautiful! And it's all collaged using gelli prints and other painted papers. I think she did a fantastic job of this, don't you?  (I'll try to get more pics from my class but truthfully, I get so busy and so excited about what everyone is doing that I forget to take photos!)

Happy New Year everyone!!!
