It's Friday!!...

It's Friday so that means lots of things going on. I'm linking to Kate Robertson's Express Your Creativity and to Paint Party Friday. I usually don't get anything ready for these but this week I managed to get two pieces finished! Be sure to stop by and see some of the other art at these two blogs.

Remember I told you I was working on two bird canvases...well, I thoroughly messed them up and had to start over. Here is one of them...

I did this bird, cut from a map and washed with turquoise paint, over some patterned paper scraps.
It's on an 8" x 8" canvas.
************************************************************
And this next piece I showed in progress here...I finally finished it, too.

This was inspired by Brandi Dayton...she has several YouTube videos showing this technique. I did mine in a different way but sort of ended with the same result. This painting has acrylics, watercolors, Posca paint pens, Prismacolor  colored pencils, Sharpie markers and Sharpie paint pens. In other words everything but the kitchen sink!! This is done on an 8" x 10" canvas board.

I hope you are all feeling creative today. Make some art!! Not only will you brighten your day, you'll brighten the world.

  9. I like how you cut the bird from a map. Very creative! And I like the second piece as well, it has kind of a folk art look. I have just been looking back through your blog and so love your journalpages. They are so unique and creative! Can't seem to find a way to follow your blog though, which is a pity ...

  17. It certainly brightened my day (which was pretty bright already). Both are lovely, I do like the turquoise bird in the first and the way you have defined the flowers and birds in the second. Thanks for the video like which I will now check out.

How did you get the really vibrant colors in the flowers in the top one? I am the same-72 and enjoying on-line workshops and classes, as well as some classes locally. I love to art! Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment.
